In 1926, film critic Mordaunt Hall wrote in the New York Times:

“That excellent combination, George Sidney and Alexander Carr, is disporting itself again on the screen in a pictorial effort entitled "Partners Again," and for fear, that somebody might possibly overlook the fact that the two principal characters are "Potash and Perlmutter," these two names are added to the title. This production is not as witty as its predecessors, but, as Samuel Goldwyn believes in hearing when it comes to a comedy, one might say that there were frequent bits of horseplay that did arouse unexpected mirth yesterday afternoon.”

The Rochester audience was no doubt lured to put their money down to see Potash and Perlmutter’s latest film antics (they had starred in films previously screened at the Eastman Theatre) thanks to Madalena’s lively depiction of the two antic ‘heroes’.
