General reference: L.749. According to Welford Dunaway Taylor's "The Woodcut Art of J.J. Lankes," Boston: David R. Godine, 1999, "Although to date no formal catalogue raisonné exists for J.J. Lankes's work there are documents, virtually complete, which list the woodcuts, greetings, and etchings. Chief among these is the "Woodcut Record," prepared initially by the artist himself and subsequently emended, as necessary, by his son, J.B. Lankes. This record of woodcut and etching designs contains 1,242 entries, listed seriatim (1-1224) according to date of execution....Because this record is so comprehensive, and because several major repositories of Lankesiana have been supplied with a copy...there may be said to exist a standard reference vocabulary for Lankes's graphic works." p. 61
