Two of the seven objects were not located. RESEARCH: The embark record, log book, catalog cards, visidex cards and object file were all checked to see if any mention of the two missing surgical instruments could be found. While it was noted that 28.72 was also a group of objects identified as bronze Syrian surgical instruments (set of 9) – which may cause some crossover and/or confusion in determining the location of the 2 missing instruments from 28.71 – the only helpful piece of information was on the catalog card for 28.71 which was marked “1 in Ed.” Indicating that at some point, one (or more?) of these instruments migrated over to the Education Department study collection. The Education study collection inventory log was checked which noted that four surgical instruments from Syria were located in the Greece and Rome Shadow Box in storage. This box was checked in the Education study collection but no bronze surgical instruments were found.
