Benton Murdoch Spruance
Modern Social Realist Painter & Printmaker
(1904 - 1967)

Spruance studied at the University of Pennsylvania, then at the Pennsylvania Academy. He taught at Beaver College in Jenkintown, PA, and then was director of graphic arts at the Philadelphia College of Art. He was a pioneer in the field of color lithography.
