John C. Wenrich’s watercolor painting captures one of the ironies of modern technology: the occasional and spectacular failure of machines designed to make life more convenient. In Almost Home for Christmas, the family car has been bested by the snow. The application of good old-fashioned sweat and muscles of both man and beast is the only solution.
