In April, 1925, the Memorial Art Gallery mounted an exhibition of Mestrovic’s sculpture. Like [Gaston] Lachaise, Mestrovic created emotionally evocative work, which may have influenced the many Rochesterians who contributed funds to purchase this sculpture and two others for MAG’s permanent collection.
