Page removed from an issue of Le Charivari, issued September 27, 1852, and trimmed before mounting. Louis Veuillot (1813-1883) was a conservative Catholic journalist. His journal, L'Univers, rejected universal suffrage, state-funded charities, and other movements he deemed too liberal. He is here depicted receiving chastisement.
