Page removed from an issue of Le Charivari, issued May 12, 1851, trimmed before mounting. Louis Désiré Véron (1798-1867) was a doctor, writer and politician; he is depicted here as a Crispin the clown, offering aid to Napoleon III as he contemplates changing the French Constitution.
