Page removed from an issue of Le Charivari, issued May 20-21, 1850, and trimmed. The "Actualités" series was based on contemporary news stories. The cartoon refers to a proposed law that would allow only residents who had lived at their address for three years to vote in the general elections, thus greatly reducing the number of voters.
