On stand: Marks: Marks: lion passant [British sterling silver standard mark indicating purity of .925]; crowned leopard head, suppressed sideways [indicating London manufacture]; head of King George [duty mark]; m [date mark indicating 1787-88 manufacture]; HB in script [makers' mark for Hester Bateman]. Scratched into bottom: 18187.
On pot: same marks; date mark m has thicker serifs at bottom; HB in script larger and B slightly different. Scratched into bottom: 16.5.
Lid marked with lion passant.
