Originally published in the 1896 French-language version of a book on the life of Joan of Arc, where it appeared on p. 25. The book was republished in English in 1980, where the drawing was reproduced on p. 33.
Provenance
Louis Maurice Boutet de Monvel, 1896; to his family at his death; purchased by Mr. Simon N. Stein from his wife and sons from an exhibition at the Gallery in 1920, then donated by the Gallery in 1920.
