This angel is an exact replica of Barbet’s famous original, which is now in the Frick Collection in New York City. Cast for the Memorial Art Gallery in 1926, the sculpture was part of the original decoration of the Fountain Court.

American sculptor Janet Scudder consulted with Rudier, the Parisian foundry, on behalf of the Gallery during the making of this piece.
