Printer: John Taylor Arms with Bolton Brown

In the summer of 1921, John Taylor Arms stayed in Woodstock at the home of lithographer Bolton Brown. Arms, who had an outstanding reputation as an etcher, was interested in learning the process of lithography from Brown. In writing about Bolton Brown in the 1938 Catalogue of LIthographs by Bolton Brown, he wrote: "Those days and nights were perhaps the most strenuous, and certainly among the richest of my professional life." The print owned by the Memorial Art Gallery was made during that period, and its subject is Bolton Brown's home in Woodstock.
