Among many forms, styles, and subjects, multimedia artist Rashid Johnson is recognized for his series of “anxious” or “broken” people. These images express the trauma and tension of contemporary life through race-less, gender-less archetypal human figures. "Untitled Anxious Red Drawing" is from a series of drawings the artist made while physically isolated at home with his family during the Covid-19 outbreak in spring 2020. Using fire engine-red oil stick, Johnson rendered his anxious crowds on paper, which took on new meanings in the context of the global pandemic.
